IMPACT OF COLOURS ON YOU

Colours influence your body’s state, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually, by maintaining a healthy balance of colours you can help balance different aspects of your life. There is also colour psychology, the belief that certain colours can have influences on our mood.

Your favourite colour can tell alot about you. If you notice that sometimes we tend choose a particular colour often not because we like it but we unconsciously select it. There was a time when I use to buy clothes all of brown colour. Brown is not my favourite colour and I usually buy bright coloured clothes so it was shock for me why I was choosing brown only. When I analyse the situation I got the answer that during those period I was looking for stability in my life. And brown stands for stability once there was stability in my life I no longer choose brown. Colours interest me a lot as when I came to know what each colour stands for and how it impact you. Let's see what each colour significes.


RED

The most emotionally intense color, red stimulates a faster heartbeat and breathing. Red is energizing. It excites the emotions and motivates us to take action. Induce emotions from passion to violence. It is also the color of love. Red clothing gets noticed and makes the wearer appear heavier. Since it is an extreme color, red clothing might not help people in negotiations or confrontations. Red is often used in restaurant decorating schemes because it is an appetite stimulant. It can give confidence to those who are shy or lacking in will power.

NEGATIVE:
Heat, aggression, danger, fire, blood, war, violence



GREEN

Currently the most popular decorating color, green symbolizes nature. It is the easiest color on the eye and can improve vision. It is a calming, refreshing color. People waiting to appear on TV sit in "green rooms" to relax. Hospitals often use green because it relaxes patients. Brides in the Middle Ages wore green to symbolize fertility. Dark green is masculine, conservative, and implies wealth. Green has a strong sense of right or wrong, inviting good judgment.

POSITVE:
Harmony, balance, refreshment, universal love, rest, restoration, reassurance, environmental awareness, equilibrium, peace


NEGATIVE:
Boredom, stagnation, misfortune, jealousy



BLUE

The color of the sky and the ocean, blue is one of the most popular colors. Peaceful, tranquil blue causes the body to produce calming chemicals, so it is often used in bedrooms.  Fashion consultants recommend wearing blue to job interviews because it symbolizes loyalty. People are more productive in blue rooms. Blue hates confrontation, and likes to do things in its own way. This color exhibits an inner security and confidence. You can rely on it to take control and do the right thing in difficult times. Blue has a need for order and direction in its life, including its living and work spaces.

NEGATIVE:
Rigid, deceitful  aloofness, lack of emotion, unfriendliness, unforgiving, frigid



BROWN

Brown stands for stability, structure, support, down to earth approach. It values quality above all else, and everything in moderation.  It relates to the protection and support of the family unit, with a keen sense of duty and responsibility, brown takes its obligations seriously. It is a practical and sensible color which implies common sense. It is quietly confident but never the life of the party! Brown does not seek attention - it prefers to stay in the background. Brown is solid with strength and maturity. It prefers to function in its own safe little world - it is not carefree and spontaneous and doesn't like surprises. It can be considered dull, boring and unexciting by many.

POSITIVE:
Down-to-earth, wholesome, practical, approachable, friendly, stable, structured, supportive, comforting, reliable, protective, strength, quietly confident, sensual, sensitive, warm, reassured, honest, sincere, quality


NEGATIVE:
Dull, boring, frugal, materialistic, lack of humor, lack of sophistication, predictable, cheap and stingy



PURPLE
The color purple is specifically associated with royalty and the nobility, creating an impression of luxury, wealth and extravagance. It has a richness and quality to it that demands respect. Purple is ambitious and self-assured, the leader. It helps to get in touch with our deeper feeling. It is for those who look for true meaning of their life. For this reason it is associated with transformation of the soul and the philosophers of the world are often attracted to it. It likes to be unique, individual and independent, doesn't like to follow the crowd. Artists, musicians, writers, poets and psychics are all inspired by purple and its magic and mystery.

POSITIVE:
Unusual and individual, creative and inventive, psychic and intuitive, humanitarian, selfless and unlimited, mystery, fantasy and the future.


NEGATIVE:
Immaturity, being impractical, cynical and aloof, pompous and arrogant, fraudulent and corrupt, delusions of grandeur and the social climber.



ORANGE

Orange denotes energy, warmth, and happiness. The color psychology of orange is optimistic and uplifting, rejuvenating our spirit.  It helps us to bounce back from disappointments. It is said to increase the craving for food. It also stimulates enthusiasm and creativity. Orange means vitality with endurance. People who like orange are usually thoughtful and sincere. Orange is for adventurers and risk-takers and for independence.

POSITIVE :
Energy, optimistic, enthusiastic, cheerful, self-confident, independent, adventurous, the risk-taker, creative flair, warm-hearted, agreeable and informal.


NEGATIVE :
Superficial ,insincere, dependent, over-bearing, self-indulgent, the exhibitionist, pessimistic, inexpensive, overly proud.



YELLOW

Yellow is the best color to create enthusiasm for life and can awaken greater confidence and optimism. Yellow helps with decision making as it relates to clarity of thought and ideas, although it can often be impulsive. Yellow helps us focus, study and recall information, useful during exam time. Cheerful sunny yellow is an attention getter. While it is considered an optimistic color, people lose their tempers more often in yellow rooms, and babies will cry more. It is the most difficult color for the eye to take in, so it can be overpowering if overused. Yellow enhances concentration, hence its use for legal pads. It also speeds metabolism.

POSITIVE:
Joy, happiness, Optimism, confidence, self-esteem, extraversion, emotional strength, friendliness, creativity.


NEGATIVE:
Judgmental, being overly analytical, being impatient and impulsive, being egotistical, pessimistic, an inferiority complex, spiteful, cowardly, lacking compassion.



WHITE 

White is for purity, innocence, wholeness and completion. It opens the way for the creation of anything the mind can conceive.White is a color of protection and encouragement, offering a sense of peace and calm, comfort and hope, helping alleviate emotional upsets. It creates a sense of order and efficiency, a great help if you need to declutter your life. White offers an inner cleansing and purifying of your thoughts, emotions and, ultimately, your spirit, refreshing and strengthening your entire energy system. In eastern cultures it is traditionally related to death and mourning. In these cultures death usually means the end of one life and the beginning of another, moving forward to a new life, so the color psychology meaning of new beginnings still holds. White may indicate the completion of a cycle in your life - you may find you have a desire for white clothing or white in your surroundings at a time when you are moving in a new direction in your life - for example, planning an overseas trip for the first time, or moving house after a long time in one place, or in seeking a new relationship or a new career direction.

POSITIVE:

BLACK 

Black stands for authority and power. It’s is mostly used in fashion industry because it is stylish and trendy plus it makes people look thinner. In color psychology the meaning of the color black is protection from external emotional stress. It creates a barrier between itself and the outside world, providing comfort while protecting its emotions and feelings, and hiding its vulnerabilities, insecurities and lack of self confidence. Black absorbs negative energy so it protect you from harm and negativity. Too much black can cause depression and mood swings and create a negative environment. Combined with white only, it can create an argumentative atmosphere. It is best to use some color with black to lighten and brighten its energy.

POSITIVE:
Sophistication, glamour, security, emotional safety, efficiency


NEGATIVE :
Evil, anger, underground, fear, unhappiness.
