ATTITUDE TO ADOPT WHILE HELPING SOMEONE !

It's a wonderful proverb. If we always think before helping anyone how we can teach him so that he doesn't require the same help in future. We have helped him perfectly. I always belief in "where there is will, there is a way" so if you really want to help someone in that way you will surely find a way to do so. I came across one excellent and real example of this in one talent show called "Marathi Paul Padte Pudhe" on 14-03-2011 at 9.30pm (I.S.T). The show is in Marathi but I will translate the story in English here in my own words.

Following is the real experience of Vasant Ingole, Nagpur.

Vasant Ingole was in his village, when he saw a dog that was very skinny and hungry and without an owner. The dog went to a house looking for food. From that house a man threw a stone at it. Dog got sacred and ran away. Again he went to another house as he was very hungry, same thing happened there and the dog had to run away.

All this was witness by Mr. Ingole, he felt really bad for the dog. So he went at his house, asked his mother for 2 breads. His mother gave him 4 breads. Now after taking the food suddenly Mr. Ingole got a taught that today he will satisfy the dog's hunger but what about tomorrow and in the future. How will the dog survive?

He got an idea. He went to the dog. He took 1 bread in his right hand and offers it to the dog. Dog ate it. Then he took 1 bread in his left hand and offers it to the dog. As soon as the dog came to eat it, he hit the dog on its face with his right hand. He didn't allow the dog to eat the bread which he was offering from his left hand. Again he offers the bread to the dog with his right hand and this time he allowed the dog to eat it and again when he offered the bread from his left hand to the dog. He hit the dog and didn't allow it to eat the bread. He did this many times. Now what happen was the dog got a lesson that if someone offers it food from his right hand, dog can eat it. But if someone offers it the food from left hand, it will get beating and won’t get to eat.

Now Mr. Ingole spread the story of this dog in his village that there is a dog that eats food only when you offer it from your right hand and not if you offer it the food from your left hand. Everyone got curious, wanted to see it for themselves. To test this people started to offer food to the dog. People got amazed and the dog got famous. And now the dog is never hungry as there is someone or the other to feed him to notice his unique behaviour.

Just a thought can change someone's life. Mr. Ingole wanted to take care of the dog's food requirement for the lifetime. Just by thinking how to do so, he came across a very good idea. This changed the dog’s life.

DON'T QUIT

Life is all about up's and down. There are times in your life when we lose hope and we quit. Later we realise that had we tried a little more we would have succeeded. There is a famous quote which is "Winners never quit, and quitters never win." The point is give your best shot and wait for the result.

We can also learn a lot from some famous people. Thomas Edison failed 10,000 times before he made the electric light. Stephen Hawking was diagnosed with motor neurone disease when he was 21 but he never let this disease stop him from following his passion and achieving a life of happiness. Abraham Lincoln had all the setbacks, challenges and tragedies to survive on his way to becoming president of the United States. There are many more people like this in this world. Look around you will find may so do not be discouraged if you fail a few times.

One day I decided to quit…I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality… I wanted to quit my life. I went to the woods to have one last talk with God. “God”, I asked, “Can you give me one good reason not to quit?”

His answer surprised me…“Look around”, He said. “Do you see the fern and the bamboo?”

“Yes”, I replied.

“When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew from the earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor. He said. “Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. Compared to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant…But just 6 months later the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall.

It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive. I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle.”

He asked me. “Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots”. “I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you.” “Don’t compare yourself to others.”

He said. “The bamboo had a different Purpose than the fern.
Yet they both make the forest beautiful.” “Your time will come”, God said to me. “You will rise high” “How high should I rise?”

I asked. “How high will the bamboo rise?”

He asked in return. “As high as it can?”

I questioned. “Yes.”

Story on Peace

     There once was a king who offered a prize to the artist who would paint the best picture of peace. Many artists tried. The king looked at all the pictures. But there were only two he really liked, and he had to choose between them.


     One picture was of a calm lake. The lake was a perfect mirror for peaceful towering mountains all around it. Overhead was a blue sky with fluffy white clouds. All who saw this picture thought that it was a perfect picture of peace.


     The other picture had mountains, too. But these were rugged and bare. Above was an angry sky, from which rain fell and in which lightning played. Down the side of the mountain tumbled a foaming waterfall. This did not look peaceful at all.


     But when the king looked closely, he saw behind the waterfall a tiny bush growing in a crack in the rock. In the bush a mother bird had built her nest. There, in the midst of the rush of angry water, sat the mother bird on her nest - in perfect peace.
