DON'T QUIT

Life is all about up's and down. There are times in your life when we lose hope and we quit. Later we realise that had we tried a little more we would have succeeded. There is a famous quote which is "Winners never quit, and quitters never win." The point is give your best shot and wait for the result.

We can also learn a lot from some famous people. Thomas Edison failed 10,000 times before he made the electric light. Stephen Hawking was diagnosed with motor neurone disease when he was 21 but he never let this disease stop him from following his passion and achieving a life of happiness. Abraham Lincoln had all the setbacks, challenges and tragedies to survive on his way to becoming president of the United States. There are many more people like this in this world. Look around you will find may so do not be discouraged if you fail a few times.

Following is an inspirational story which will help you to keep moving.

One day I decided to quit…I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality… I wanted to quit my life. I went to the woods to have one last talk with God. “God”, I asked, “Can you give me one good reason not to quit?”

His answer surprised me…“Look around”, He said. “Do you see the fern and the bamboo?”

“Yes”, I replied.

“When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew from the earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor. Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo. In the second year the Fern grew more vibrant and plentiful. And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo.

He said. “In year three there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I would not quit. In year four, again, there was nothing from the bamboo seed. I would not quit.”

He said. “Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. Compared to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant…But just 6 months later the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall.

It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive. I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle.”

He asked me. “Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots”. “I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you.” “Don’t compare yourself to others.”

He said. “The bamboo had a different Purpose than the fern.
Yet they both make the forest beautiful.” “Your time will come”, God said to me. “You will rise high” “How high should I rise?”

I asked. “How high will the bamboo rise?”

He asked in return. “As high as it can?”

I questioned. “Yes.”

He said, “Give me glory by rising as high as you can.”

SIMPLIFYING YOUR LIFE

Simplifying life means get clear what we want out of life. It means doing what is important to us and eliminating the rest. Simplifying is necessary as today’s world is very demanding and if we are not sure what we want we will get caught up in doing what we don’t want and waste our precious time which we would have utilized for fulfilling our wants. We can’t afford to waste time as time doesn’t wait for anyone. Once it is gone, it is gone forever. And we all have limited time in this world so it is better to utilize our time in the things which we want to do. This way we will be much happier and in peace.

Following are the some benefits of simplifying our life:

1. We are less stressful.

2. Our lifestyle is healthy.

3. We do work that is really important to us.

4. We spend quality time with our loved ones.

5. We have time for ourself.

6. There is enjoyment in life.

7. There is clarity in our life.

8. We achieve more and quickly.

Now point is how we simplify our life. Following are my pointers to simplify our life.

1.  Brainstorm

It is very important to know what you want out of life. As it will give you direction and you will live a very fulfilling life. Determine what is important to you in all areas of your life i.e., Relationship, Finances, Career, Learning/ Personal Development, Social, Spiritual, Health, Home, Travel, Fun. If you don’t know what is important to you currently then think what you don’t want this way you will know what you want.

2.  Re-evaluate

Once you have the list of your wants in each area of life. Go back and check the list again and ask yourself whether all the things you have mentioned are really what you want or you just taught you wanted it. If you get confident "yes" for all your wants then that’s what you want. Things which you think you don’t want cancel it immediately.

3.  Time Based

Now from your list determine which of your wants are achievable in short time frame and which will take a longer time. Make a separate list for your short term and long term wants. Short term should be from 0 to 5 years time frame and long term above 5 years.

4.  Action Steps

Determine what you need to do to fulfill your each want. Just write down what you think you need to do and also ask if possible someone whom you know as already achieved what you want.

5.  Execution

Select 3 of your shortest time frame wants and start taking steps to get what you want. Once a want is achieved tick it off from your list and add the next want. This way you will sooner achieve your entire list.

6 WAYS TO GET OUT OF DEPRESSION

What is depression? According to me it is a deep expression. You are deeply sad. You are feeling terrible. At some point everyone experience depression. Even I was depressed and it took me 6 months to get out of it. Whenever I go back and think what helped me get of out depression, I came accross the following pointers:

1. Realization :

It is important to realise that you are depressed. How do you know that you are depressed? Start noticing yourself and what close ones are talking about you. Do you get lot of negative feeling? Do you feel you are not worthwhile? Has your behaviour changed towards yourself and others? Do you have lost interest in the things which you use to enjoy earlier? Do you feel lonely? If the answers to above questions are yes in majority then you are depressed with something.

2. Talk about it :

Once you realised that you are depressed next thing is to talk about it to someone you trust or you think can understand you. If you don't have any close ones to whom you can talk to, take help of  professionals. Talking about a problem helps you to clam down.

3. Get out of your current environment:

Try changing your environment. What I mean is go outside frequently, better if you go out for a vacation. Change in environment will change your focus. You will have new things to see to feel. Get busy and get involve in activities.

4. You are incharge of your own ship :

You are responsible of your own life. If certain things is not going as you want it. Try to come up with
ways which is best for you. Depression is not helping you anyway. So it's your duty to get out of it. As depression is not only harming you but also your near ones. Remember whatever happens, happens for a reason and is for our own good. As the time passes you will realise that it was good when the things you plan didn't went as you wanted.

5. Move forward :

It's no point to get struck in past. Life is always about moving foward. I know you must be getting
feeling like why this is happened to me? But tell me does this question is helping you anyway or making you feel miserable. Believe me at the end everything will be fine. So you need to concentrate on what is important to you. Learn from your bad moments and move forward. This is the only way you will be able to live a fulfilled life.

6. Make things happen :

Don't wait for things to happen, make things happen. If you want to be happy, start doing things which makes you happy. Try try until you succeed.

Remember Life is Beautiful. Try enjoying your life as much you can as we all are here for a limited time. Make best out of your life. All the Best !!!

STOP WORRYING AND BE CLAM !!!

Basically I am a very positive person. I always look at the positive side of everything and believe that whatever happens, happens for our own good. But recently I noticed that I am worrying a lot it's not because of my issues but things happening in the life of my close ones. Worrying a lot can damage you health and also take away joy from your life. Life become miserable when you worry. So I was thinking a lot how to stop my worries and be clam.

Here are some ways which I use to worry less and to be clam.

1. Get aware: You should be aware that worrying does no good to you. Someone has said, “Worrying is like a rocking chair; it will give you something to do, but it won’t get you anywhere.” Worrying is unproductive and pure time waster. Once you realise this you will automatically start looking for ways to stop your worries.

2. Choose your state of mind : You have a choice in every situation though you sometimes don't have control over some situations but you definitely have some choices. What I mean is in any situation you can choose, how you want to feel about it. Things which are out of our control we should never worry about it as it of no use. Worrying makes the situation worst. Believe whatever happens, happens for our own good. There is always a lesson to be learnt. Believe in god and leave things on him.

3. Law of attraction : Law of attraction states that what you constantly think the most you attract the most. Keep that in mind if you imagine bad things you are attracting bad situations in your life. Why not believe in and imagine good things in your life or else be neutral don't think of anything good or bad just go with the situation.

4. Analysis your past : There must be some situation in your past where you can remember that you worried a lot about a particular situation but at the end everything turned out good. Keep those memories in mind as it will serve as a motivator to keep you clam. Make it a point you notice every situation that occurs to you which causes you to worry. What impact it had on you. What happened at the end. Learning from your situation gives you strength. In future if same things happens, you should know how to deal with it.

5. Do what you feel is right : Sometimes we worry a lot what others think of us or sometimes we try to keep everyone happy which never happens and at the end we are sad about it. What I do is I always remind myself that "No one can please everyone so do what you feel is right." This helps me to be clear and clam.

Let see what some famous people has to say about worry: (Quotes source)

"Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia."
- Charles Schultz

"If you can't sleep, then get up and do something instead of lying there and worrying. It's the worry that gets you, not the loss of sleep."
- Dale Carnegie

"When I can't handle events, I let them handle themselves."
- Henry Ford

"There are people who are always anticipating trouble, and in this way they manage to enjoy many sorrows that never really happen to them."
- Henry Wheeler Shaw

"When we hate our enemies, we are giving them power over us: power over our sleep, our appetites, our blood pressure, our health, and our happiness. Our enemies would dance with joy if only they knew how they were worrying us, lacerating us, and getting even with us! Our hate is not hurting them at all, but our hate is turning our own days and nights into a hellish turmoil."
- Dale Carnegie

"Worry a little bit every day and in a lifetime you will lose a couple of years. If something is wrong, fix it if you can. But train yourself not to worry. Worry never fixes anything."
- Mary Hemingway

"WHATEVER HAPPENS, HAPPENS FOR GOOD"

"Whatever happens, happens for good." I have heard this statement some years ago. This statement got struck in my head. I started to think about it a lot. I analyse every situation to see whether this statement hold some truth. I found mixed answers when I analyse all my past and current situations. But as time goes by, I realise that yes, this statement is correct. I came to know about this statement through a story. It was from Akbar Birbal Stories. Following is the Story:

Once Akbar the mughal emperor and Birbal, his minister were having a chat. While cutting a fruit, Akbar cut his finger slightly and was upset about it. Birbal said “Jahapana, whatever happens is for your good. Do not worry”. This irked Akbar and he wanted to score it even with Birbal. He takes him for hunting trip at the end of the day they are tired. Akbar asks Birbal to get down into an abandoned well and fetch water. After Birbal got down, Akbar pulled the rope up, said, “Birbal stay there, what ever happens is for your own good”, and left him there. Wandering in the Jungle, Akbar lost his way back and was captured by the Tribes, who decided to offer him as a sacrifice to Goddess Kali. Just before chopping his head off, one of them sees the cut on his finger, asserted that he was not perfect, and hence cannot be offered as “Bali” and they released him. Akbar realized Birbal’s words and repented for leaving him in the well and went back to get him. When Akbar explains what happened and apologizes to Birbal for his act, Birbal says “Jahapana, good that you left me, else they would have killed and offered me to kali instead of you”.

When you keep in mind things happens to us or others is for  our  own good. It helps us to be at peace with ourselves.
